Palestine Regional Medical Center Names 2018 Mercy Award Winner

June 20, 2018

Palestine, Texas (June 19, 2018) – Palestine Regional Medical Center announced that Matthew Davis has been recognized as the hospital’s 2018 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s hospitals who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.

The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.

“At Palestine Regional Medical Center, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees both on and off the job,” said Roy Finch, CEO of Palestine Regional Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to recognize Matt Davis for his efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. He goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person he encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”

Matthew Davis has served as the Director of Emergency Management Services since September 6, 2016.  He previously worked as a paramedic for more than 11 years combined for Palestine Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Davis volunteers as Reserve Deputy for the Anderson County Sherriff’s Office.  He serves on the EMS Advisory Board for Trinity Valley Community College and is also an Adjunct EMS Instructor for the institution.  As a leader of the Emergency Management Services team at Palestine Regional Medical Center, he encourages first responder participation in various community events including the YMCA Healthy Kids program, Palestine’s National Night Out, Safety Town, Neches Chuck Wagon Races and community health fairs to mention a few.  Matt Davis and his team have demonstrated hands only CPR to many in our community, making ours a safer place.

Each hospital winner, including Matthew Davis, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2018 company-wide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and will be honored at a special celebration in Nashville, Tenn., in August, along with all other hospital winners.
