PRMC Observes Hospital Week
May 10, 2017
Our Providers Put the “Care” in Healthcare
Richard Grogan, Interim Chief Executive Officer
This May, we’re proud to join with several organizations in celebrating and recognizing a number of providers at Palestine Regional Medical Center, and throughout our area, who are working hard every day to help make our communities healthier.
From May 7 – 13, during National Hospital Week, we honor the men and women whose hard work and commitment are at the heart of our vision to create places where people choose to come for healthcare. This annual event, led by the American Hospital Association, dates back to 1921 and recognizes the millions of healthcare professionals – from surgeons and therapists to food service workers and volunteers – who play a role in providing patient-centered, high-quality and compassionate healthcare across the country.
Our staff at Palestine Regional Medical Center goes above and beyond to provide the highest quality healthcare close to home, enhance patient safety, expand our services to better meet your needs and improve your overall experience as a patient. Over just the last year, we have participated in local community events like Paint Palestine Pink, several local health fairs, continued with our Friends of PRMC program, and contributed to the local Blankets and Bears program.
National Hospital Week also recognizes the many contributions that hospitals make outside the hospital walls. At Palestine Regional Medical Center, we are honored to be an integral, contributing member of this community, providing jobs for over 500 individuals, offering vital health education to the community and providing more than $4 million in charity care each year to those in need.
Whether you run into us at an event, or are a patient with us, we strive to be a valuable partner in helping you and our community live richer, healthier lives.
One of the most integral roles in our mission of making communities healthier belongs to the nursing staff at Palestine Regional Medical Center. This May 6 – 12 marks National Nurses Week, during which we are proud to join the American Nurses Association in celebrating the outstanding efforts of our nursing staff. Our nurses are on the front lines of care – from providing a compassionate smile and encouraging word to healing hands and medical expertise – and I am so proud of their tireless dedication to creating an environment where our patients feel well cared for and safe.
We also join the American Health Care Association during National Nursing Home Week, May 14 – 20, to honor the kindness, compassion and quality care that our skilled nursing care centers provide to seniors and individuals with disabilities in our community who need extra special care. And May 21 – 27, we stand alongside the American College of Emergency Physicians to celebrate National EMS Week and honor the vital and lifesaving role our local emergency medical services personnel play in the health of our community.
Contributing to the overall health and wellbeing of our community is a privilege. I am proud of the efforts of all of our healthcare professionals, both here at Palestine Regional Medical Center and throughout our region, who are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality, compassionate care, and I hope you will join me this month in celebrating their hard work and dedication. They truly do put the “care” in healthcare.
The other part of the equation, of course, is you, the community, and, I thank you as well for all of your continued support and encouragement as we work to advance our mission of Making Communities Healthier.
