Palestine Regional Medical Center Shares its 2023 Community Benefit Report
The report outlines the hospital’s continued impact on the health and well-being of the residents and communities of Anderson County.
PALESTINE, Texas (April 22, 2024) – Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) today published its community benefit and economic impact report for the 2023 calendar year. This report outlines the many ways the hospital positively contributes to Anderson County and the surrounding areas and spotlights how it continues to support the health and well-being of those who live and work in the region.
“This report speaks to our part of a decades-old partnership between Palestine Regional and Anderson County that starts with area residents entrusting our team with their care,” said Doug Holzbog, Market CEO of Palestine Regional. “We wouldn’t be here without that kind of support. We are honored to provide high-quality, compassionate care that contributes to better health and well-being, and pleased to share the many ways we have a positive impact beyond our hospital as a large employer, taxpayer and charitable contributor.”
Palestine Regional’s 2023 community benefit report highlights the hospital’s continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its communities through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2023, PRMC added providers in Pulmonology and Urology, and made more than $2.5 million in capital improvements, including the purchase of four new ambulances, dialysis equipment, urology clinic equipment, a 3D Mammography imaging system, a pulmonary imaging system, an X-ray machine for its Orthopedic Clinic, and more.
Additionally, Palestine provided more than $40 million in charitable or uncompensated health services to those in need, demonstrating its continued commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.
PRMC is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice and employees want to work. In 2023, the hospital distributed more than $42 million in salaries, wages, and benefits for its approximately 470 employees, and contributed nearly $200,000 in professional development and tuition assistance so its employees have the opportunity to learn and improve the care they provide their patients.
The report shares several examples of how Palestine Regional Medical Center is continually seeking ways to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, extending far beyond the physical walls of its facilities. Last year, the organization paid more than $6 million in provider, payroll, property, and sales taxes, displaying its commitment to fiscal responsibility that contributes to the area’s economic well-being. The hospital is also honored to have supported local activities and organizations that contribute to the community, including Blankets & Bears, Crockett Health Fair, Meals on Wheels, Paint Palestine Pink, Palestine Health Fair, Palestine High School Purses & Pearls Event, Palestine High School Class of 23 Golf Tournament, Palestine Rotary Club Scholarship Gala, YMCA Healthy Kids Day and YMCA Spring Soccer, among others.
“Our team loves this community, we appreciate being able to take care of our friends, family and neighbors who come to us in need, and we relish the opportunity to support others with a shared vision of making a stronger and healthier community,” added Holzbog.
